Steve Perry, the former lead singer of Journey, raised $215,000 to help people affected by wildfires in California. He did this by selling items from his personal collection, including the handwritten lyrics to Journey’s famous song “Don’t Stop Believin’.” That lyric sheet sold for $43,500 through Darkives Collectibles.
The auction was part of a charity event organized with the Sweet Relief Musicians Fund. This group has been helping musicians and music workers in tough situations since 1994. For this fire relief effort, they made sure that every dollar raised went straight to the victims, with no money taken out for fees or costs.
More than 50 items from Perry’s collection were sold, including signed CDs and personal memorabilia. The handwritten lyrics were one of the most popular items in the auction.
Perry said he wanted to support people going through hard times because of the fires. He opened up his personal collection to help raise as much money as possible.
The auction was also supported by Dark Horse Records, whose new platform, Darkives Collectibles, helped organize the event. This was a team effort that combined music, charity, and community support to help those in need.
